The East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) and Yankuang Group Co., Ltd. (now Shandong Energy Group Co., Ltd.) have jointly developed both the Opposed Multi-burner (OMB) coal-water slurry (CWS) gasification technology and the OMB dry-feed gasification technology. The first OMB CWS gasification demonstration plant with a single gasifier capacity of 1,000 tons per day – successfully commissioned in 2005 – is situated in the Lunan Chemical Co., Ltd. in Tengzhou, Shandong Province.

In April 2024, another first – the first OMB dry-feed gasification demonstration plant with a gasifier capacity of 3,000 tons per day, operating pressure of 4.0 MPaG, and syngas (CO+H2) capacity of 210,000 Nm3/h – was started up by the same company in Tengzhou. During the technical tour, participants will thus be able to visit both demonstration plants of the OMB gasification technology – one of the most successful gasification technologies being deployed today in China.

Additionally, during the tour, participants will also have the opportunity to visit a pilot-scale waste gasification facility – with a capacity of 10,000 tons of waste input per year – to experience the latest developments in China’s efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of its chemical sector.
