Conditions of Purchase

Your use of this site and the sale and purchase of any items are governed by the terms of use of the site and these conditions of purchase. By using the site, you are agreeing to these conditions.

Services

The Institute of Energy Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering, hereinafter referred to as IEC, renders services according to the event description in the respective valid event program. The IEC reserves the right to change presenters or to modify the program schedule in exceptional cases.

Registration, Confirmation, Ordering

Onsite registration is available from 23–26 September 2024 starting with the Welcome Reception at the Conference Hotel in Shanghai, China. Registrations will be considered and confirmed in the order of their arrival. 

Hotels

All participants are responsible for their own accommodation arrangements. 

Cancellation by the IEC

In case of a cancellation of an event caused by force majeure or other circumstances beyond the control of the IEC, no claims can be raised linked to the realization of the event. In case of cancellation by the IEC, the IEC is only obliged to refund the participation fees already paid. 

Cancellations or Changes by Participants

Cancellations have to be sent to the IEC in text format. For cancellations received before 15 August 2024, a handling fee of 200 EURO will be deducted from the refund. No refund will be possible for cancellations received after 15 August 2024.

Substitutions of conference participants may be made at any time by notifying the conference office. If the substitute participant does not meet the same discount requirements as the registered participant, the difference will be charged. Please notify the conference organizing office of any name changes of participants in advance.

The conditions for cancellation after 15 August 2024 also apply to registered participants who cannot attend the event due to last minute changes in plans.

Privacy and Security

Limitation of Liability for Internal Content

The content of our website has been compiled with meticulous care and to the best of our knowledge. However, we cannot assume any liability for the up-to-dateness, completeness or accuracy of any of the pages.

Pursuant to section 7, para. 1 of the TMG (Telemediengesetz – Tele Media Act by German law), we as service providers are liable for our own content on these pages in accordance with general laws. However, pursuant to sections 8 to 10 of the TMG, we as service providers are not under obligation to monitor external information provided or stored on our website. Once we become aware of a specific infringement of the law, we will immediately remove the content in question. Any liability concerning this matter can only be assumed from the point in time at which the infringement becomes known to us.

Limitation of Liability for External Links

Our website contains links to the websites of third parties (“external links”). As the content of these websites is not under our control, we cannot assume any liability for such external content. In all cases, the providers of information of the linked websites are liable for the content and accuracy of the information provided. At the point in time when the links were placed, no infringements of the law were recognizable to us. As soon as an infringement of the law becomes known to us, we will immediately remove the link in question.

The content and works published on this website are governed by the copyright laws of Germany. Any duplication, processing, distribution or any form of utilization beyond the scope of copyright law shall require the prior written consent of the author or authors in question.

Data Protection

By paying the registration fee, you are agreeing to having your pictures taking during the events and to the use of these pictures by the organizer on its website and for other purposes to promote the International Freiberg Conference. They will not be used for any commercial purposes. In case you do not agree with publication of photos taken from you, please get in touch with the conference organization team via e-mail at ifc@iec.tu-freiberg.de before the conference begins.

A visit to our website can result in the storage on our server of information about the access (date, time, page accessed). This does not represent any analysis of personal data (e.g., name, address or e-mail address). If personal data are collected, this only occurs – to the extent possible – with the prior consent of the user of the website. Any forwarding of the data to third parties without the express consent of the user shall not take place.

We would like to expressly point out that the transmission of data via the Internet (e.g., by e-mail) can offer security vulnerabilities. It is therefore impossible to safeguard the data completely against access by third parties. We cannot assume any liability for damages arising as a result of such security vulnerabilities.

The use by third parties of all published contact details for the purpose of advertising is expressly excluded. We reserve the right to take legal steps in the case of the unsolicited sending of advertising information; e.g., by means of spam mail.

Fees

By paying the full registration fee you are entitled to: 1) attend all conference sessions, the welcome evening & reception, the conference dinner, 2) receive conference documents and a souvenir and 3) participate in lunches as well as consume beverages and snacks provided during breaks. All extra services and technical tours have to be paid separately.

The registration fee includes the scientific program fee and the social program fee. 

Participants from companies are responsible for declaring the entrepreneurial use of the purchase. EU and non-EU participants and accompanying persons are responsible for any taxes which have to be paid in their home country.

Terms of Payment

The participation fee has to be paid immediately upon registration. Accepted payment methods include credit card payment and bank transfer. Please note that for bank transfer, payment must be made in EURO after receiving the invoice.  

Place of Jurisdiction and Applicable Law

The legal relations of the contracting parties from or in connection with the contract are subordinated to law of the Federal Republic of Germany. The place of jurisdiction for legal disputes from or in connection with the contract is Freiberg. If a provision of this contract is or shall become partially or fully invalid or unenforceable, the legal validity of the other provisions shall not be affected by this. The invalid or unenforceable provisions will be retroactively replaced by that valid provision, which would have been agreed on by the parties from an economic point of view, if they had known about the invalidity or unenforceability of this provision when the contract was concluded. The same applies for the case of a legal gap in the contract.

Online Dispute Resolution

The European Commission provides a platform for the extrajudicial online dispute resolution (ODR platform) accessible under ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/. The Online Dispute Resolution website is an official website dedicated to help consumers and traders resolve their disputes out-of-court. A web form in which you enter the facts online allows the consumer or trader to receive a conciliation proposal as soon as possible.
